Janki Mandir is the most famous and sacred temple of Sitamarhi, dedicated to Goddess Sita (Janki). It is believed to be the exact birthplace of Goddess Sita, daughter of King Janak and consort of Lord Rama. The temple features beautiful architecture with intricate carvings and a serene spiritual atmosphere. During Vivah Panchami, the temple witnesses grand celebrations with thousands of devotees from across India and Nepal.

जानकी मंदिर सीतामढ़ी का सबसे प्रसिद्ध और पवित्र मंदिर है, जो देवी सीता को समर्पित है। यह देवी सीता का जन्मस्थान माना जाता है। विवाह पंचमी पर यहाँ भव्य उत्सव मनाया जाता है।

इतिहास / History

Janki Mandir was built in 1911 by the queen of Tikamgarh, Vrisha Bhanu Kunwari, over the site long revered as Sita's birthplace. Every year during Vivah Panchami (marking the wedding of Rama and Sita), the temple hosts one of North India's largest religious gatherings, including a symbolic marriage procession (baraat) that arrives from Janakpur, Nepal.

Sitamarhi Junction railway station is 1.5 km away with direct trains to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow and Guwahati. Sitamarhi Bus Stand (BSRTC) is 2 km away with regular buses from Patna (about 4 hrs) and Muzaffarpur. Nearest airport: Darbhanga (85 km).
