The temple is dedicated to Baba Nageshwarnath (Lord Shiva), built in Nepalese architectural style modelled on Kathmandu's famous Pashupatinath Mandir, with groundbreaking on 15 October 1968. Local tradition holds that Lord Shiva himself appeared here as Nageshwar Nath Mahadev. Major festivals: Maha Shivratri and Sawan Sombari.
Around 30 km east of Sitamarhi town; regular buses and shared vehicles connect Pupri to Sitamarhi and Sursand.
